Why?

Why?

The start-up of Sustaineer in 2016 was certainly driven by the idea that the world is becoming more complex by the year. This is not only due to changing boundary conditions such as climate change or geopolitics. Certainly it is at least evenly driven by the enhanced capacity of our species to go one step further and to integrate complexity into our daily processes.
This in turn often leads to great fun and improved living conditions. It has enhanced society in a whole and it has realised improvements in many fields over the years. Take for instance the world wide rate of illiteracy since 1800 or child mortality rate over the last two centuries.
These great evolutions have been realised for a big part through specialisation, we have evolved from generalists (was Leonardo da Vinci an engineer, a philosopher or an artist?) to specialists (look at the Nobel prize winners physics in the last decade, no doubt what they were).
I like to think that a next step forward will be one of integration and co-creation between specialisms. Integration will require a holistic approach of thinking. It will need balance through adopting the triple P bottom line (People, Planet and Profit). And it will also need new ways of looking at things, which will probably be supported by cultural exchange and migration.
I like to think that managers and politicians could become integrators, that social workers should become social supporters and engineers will grow to sustainability architects or ….. sustaineers.
That is why: Sustaineer!

Sustainability, a buzz word?
Or a requirement to obtain a lasting “Licence to Operate”!

Sustaineer believes that sustainability is, or will become at high speed, an essential part of our business environment. As a project engineer and manager I have extensive experience in making (industrial) projects more sustainable and offering solutions to make a business or a project run more efficiently. As an engineer, I value facts and figures, as a project manager I value transparency and the early integration of stakeholders in processes. My experience with environmentally and socially driven projects in Europe and Africa has sharpened my intercultural sensitivity. All these elements help to maintain the broader and holistic view required to implement, monitor and report sustainability actions within the working environment. If you feel that your ambitions on sustainability might benefit from this approach, I’d like to team up.
